One of our favorite acts, Allo Darlin' are the perfect anecdote for those seeking Spring Fever in this cold-snap that we've been experiencing here on the East Coast this week. The London-based group with the sweet and notable Aussie lilt of the band's lead singer and songwriter Elizabeth Morris will be starting the first date of their tour by performing at NYC's infamous Mercury Lounge, following this up in Philadelphia at Kung Fu Necktie the next night along with tour mates The Wave Pictures, and openers Royal Shoals.
Allo Darlin' recently released their new album "Europe" on Slumberland Records, and it is the perfect mix of infectious indie-pop and a melancholy summer jangle. Elizabeth has a "real" way with words and is a gifted storyteller, often recanting dreams or experiences that she's had or places that she's traveled to in her songs. Bands like Sodastream, The Lucksmiths, and Belle & Sebastian may gather their comparisons, but Elizabeth holds court with her distinctive voice and songwriting abilities. The group's live show is beyond compare and not to be missed as well if you truly enjoy dancing at a gig!
