If you are stopping by the South Philly area today or are planning to hit up the Italian Market, make sure you pop your head into local artist and hand-made favorite Mew Gallery (located at 906 Christian Street in Philadelphia) one last time to look around and catch some of the sales happening in-store before it closes it's doors for good later today. The gallery is selling everything from art to baby and adult clothing to fixtures and hand-made items (those that are left).
The warm and inviting store, co-owned by local artist/musician Carolynne McNeel (of Rarebirds, Grammar Debate!, and Roomtone) and long-time friend Lauren Parker, has always been a wonderful fixture for musicians, artists, members of the community (as well as the hungry waiting outside of Sabrina's Cafe for the next table at brunch). Acoustic Mew was a favorite in-store event featuring the likes of Surefire Broadcast, Rarebirds and others. We'll be sad to see the girl's business go as they have always been such a great support to the neighborhood; lending a hand to benefit the community as well as local artists and musicians at the drop of a hat.
Support the girls today, even if you're just stopping in to say hello; we're sure with their talent that they'll be moving on to even greater things in the future and we wish them both the very best!
