White Lies debut album, "To Lose My Life" is due to be formally released on March 17th (2009) on Geffen. The band, made up of a trio of school mates; are quickly selling out dates in the UK, parts of Canada and the US, and have been gathering steam since as early as summer of 2008--quickly becoming a buzzed about band playing festivals across the globe, appearing over here in the music press after only a few of their earlier scheduled showcase US dates were run aground, and just last month becoming the cover darlings of the NME who proclaimed them to be among "the new dark stars painting indie black". While being so young, the dark, witty and sardonic sense of storytelling that comes from lead songwriter Charles Cave's lyrics give their songs plenty of thought and punch; and the band have all the frenetic energy. noise and bravado to back themselves up. Tracks were laid early on for the group (they literally formed their first band, Fear of Flying, at the ages of 15, and with new songs in hand--reinvented themselves as White Lies without looking back). Eventually enlisting the help of Ed Buller (Suede, Pulp) and Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, The Killers, and Smashing Pumpkins) White Lies seemed to fall in naturally with the new sound and direction. The full band is Harry McVeigh on Vocals, Guitar, Jack Brown on Drums, and Charles Cave on Bass and Backing Vocals.
