Dead Trees from Portland, Oregon have released a cracking new album as their debut with King Of Rosa out in the US on Milan Records this month. The album is a follow up to their Fort Music EP released earlier this year. They have already been touring and opening for Albert Hammond Jr. (of The Strokes), and are following this up with brand new tour dates co-headlining with the band Little Joy (feat. Strokes' drummer Fabrizio Moretti). The pairing of both band's sound is perfect, and will hopefully equal a great show live as well. King Of Rosa is a whip-smart debut with the twang of laid-back country, rock, and pop songwriting. If 'rocksteady' were a qualifiable term to describe indie-rock with a little Pavement drag, and a whole lot of Jeff Tweedy-esque vocal style, then Dead Trees could easily be penned in as taking their steadily-paced beats to a brand new level of cool. Catch them at The Khyber this month (on Wednesday Nov 12) with Little Joy, a must see live!
