We're really excited to announce that Glasgow's surf-pop (inspired by 'classic doo-wop') group Glasvegas--only recently named Best New Band in Britain for 2008 by The NME, will be playing dates here in the US after deliberating whether to tour before their much anticipated full-length album release in 2009. The band will only be playing select dates here; four to be exact, in Philadelphia, Washington, New York and Boston in late September. HeyDay Entertainment will be presenting their date at The North Star here in Philadelphia on September 30th, so make sure you mark off your calendars and get your tickets early. Also on the bill for this show will be Philadelphia's The Cobbs in support--this will be one date not to miss! Glasvegas were discovered last year by indie record label owner and pop icon, Alan McGee (of the now-legendary Creation Records) who discovered the band in the same venue that he first discovered Oasis.
Glasvegas will also be a part of the performance in NY supporting another legendary act; Echo & The Bunnymen who, in celebration of their 30th Anniversary, will be performing their album Ocean Rain ("The Killing Moon") with a 10-piece orchestra in its entirety on the evening of October 1st at Radio City Music Hall. Glasvegas was hand-picked to be Echo & The Bunnymen's only support on this date. Glasvegas will also be debuting their second single ("Daddy's Gone") in anticipation of their forthcoming album release at the end of August (which is a repackaged single release through Glasvegas' new label, Columbia Records--having previously been released on the Sane Man label in 2007), and have already released the single for their song "Geraldine" through Columbia as well, which is available currently.
