Three slashes are 'better to cut you with', better than one, anyway
With a deep voice like Dave Gahan, and enough new wave pomp to gravitate toward comparisons of early-New Order (especially noted on "Hearts On Fire"); Melbourne, Australia's excellent electro-pop trio Cut Copy are perched on a level deeply approaching a brilliantly-styled excess; holding back enough to play it loose, but definitely not lo-fi, on album number two, In Ghost Colours. Fifteen tracks go on a bit long in this case (truth be told) but the album flows amazingly well, and make the more stand-alone tracks such as "Feel The Love", "Lights And Music", "Hearts On Fire", "Unforgettable Season" and "Far Away" seem far more effortless in execution. "Nobody Lost, Nobody Found" highlights the band's choice of album title with its ghostly 'ooh-oo-ooh-oo's (see also; the shimmery melodies and choruses on beginning track, "Feel The Love") accentuating what eventually turns into a tangled mix of catchy beats, and tuneful synth. On tour non-stop with electronic duo The Presets (who played their last date here at a Making Time event back in June), beginning this month and heading into October; the band are selling out dates already in New York and Boston, and with Philadelphia looming, pick up tickets for their show at the Troc here in Philly while you can!
