The huge-sounding "Cold War Kids", (not to be mixed up with the band by the same name in any way) is an intense, edgy and soaring closing track to what will be the duo Magnetic Morning's forthcoming s/t EP release--due out on April 19th on LA-based DH Records. Lead singer and guitarist Adam Franklin (guitarist and singer from bands Toshack Highway, and of course, the brilliantly colossal shoegaze-outfit, Swervedriver) found a similar match in Interpol's talented and rhythm-driven drummer Sam Fogarino when they became friends. In early 2006, they were introduced by mutual friend Jack Rabid (of The Big Takeover) and together began work on a new side-project; more recently renaming themselves Magnetic Morning (taken in favor of their former moniker, The Setting Suns). Through Interpol's recording sessions (for their 3rd studio album--Our Love to Admire) with Claudius Mittendorfer (Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Weezer), Adam and Sam were able to tap him to record their Magnetic Morning tracks at NY's famed-Electric Lady Studios as well. The duo worked closely on new material and assembled an EP worth of songs that has yet to be formally released. And while Franklin and Fogarino must both be looking forward to finally seeing their debut EP come out under the new name this April--both musicians seem to keep themselves incredibly busy. With Fogarino playing constantly in Interpol, Franklin working on his own solo material for his most recent Bolts of Melody project, and 2008 also looking to be the year that Swervedriver finally reunites and tours (!) (rumors of which have been confirmed by Franklin himself), both artists are headed for a busy year of playing and of course taking the music to where it's always belonged: in the ears and hands of hungry fans (new and old).
