(Warming themselves up to the fire of "rock"?)
Utterly convinced that they are indeed "the" band to watch, the crowd stood at rapt attention last night for the headliner at Johnny Brenda's --UK's British Sea Power, who actually had to wait for the smoke to clear from the mind-blowing openers (Stardeath and White Dwarfs) before going on. Although the sound for BSP was absolutely muddy at best, unfortunate for a person's first-time experience in seeing them, their energized set caught most audience members clapping furiously, singing along and dancing to their songs. Their new EP, Krankenhaus? (released on Rough Trade/World's Fair this month) is an exercise in shiny keyboard bleeps and bloops, hushed vocals and gorgeous melodies. "I never knew that it could feel so good..." Catch them quick before they head back to ol' Blighty:
Thursday 18/10 @ Bowery Ballroom, New York, NY
w/ Pela, 1990s, Tiny Masters of Today, Stardeath and White Dwarf, The Grey Race.
* Part of the CMJ Music and Film Festival

Sunday 21/10 @ Middle East, Cambridge, MA

Hi Su - their new EP is really great, wasn't really too much of a fan before, but I'm willing to see them again;) for good measure - and scientific musical experimentation, of course! Thanks for commenting!
